Sunday June 12th - Day 9

Day 9 - 444 Miles - The Start of Route 66

Another beautiful and great day on the road. We said goodbye to Bob, Martha, Mark and Melissa, they headed for home in NY and Marie and I headed for the start of Route 66 and to meet some fellow Charger lovers.

We got to Chicago around 12:15pm to find the Chicago Blues Festival going on. Oops. Well several roads were closed and we drove around in circles trying to find the Start of Route 66. We finally navigated around and found it but the city moved the sign to the other side of the street so we had to circle again to get on the correct side. I double parked and jumped out of the Charger to take a picture.

Getting out of the City was insane, the poor GPS was lost and the freeways are very confusing, so.... after driving around in circles for about 30 minutes we figured out how to get to the right freeway and head towards a fellow Charger owners house for lunch/dinner.

Wayne with his Charger in the process of being reassembled. Its really turning out great.

When we got there a few more Charger buddies were waiting for us. From left to Right is Jim, Ron, Wayne and me.

Wayne left a place for me to park Big Red and the TT in the drive way. I'm getting better at going backwards.

Around 4:30pm we hit the road again and made our way back to Route 66. We stopped at the Launching Pad for a few pictures in front of the space man in Wilmington, IL

A short stop at the Ambler-Becker Texaco Gas Station in Dwight IL

We made it to Bloomington and called it quits for the day. We are looking forward to tomorrow when we should make it to the St Louis Arch.
